I got into the travel industry a number of years ago when Alistair and I decided that career changes were necessary and our true passion was to travel and share our enthusiasm and experience for travel with anyone who would listen!
We bought a franchise which was a bit of a double-edged sword because on one hand we very quickly realised that after we had parted with the hefty franchise fee and done a week’s training we were going to be dropped in at the deep end and the franchise company would have little interest in us afterwards as they’d made their money from us.
On the other hand, it opened a door into an industry that we have completely fallen in love with and we resolved to work really hard to learn and develop our business and to make it a success.
Fast forward and I now come to work every day looking forward to the challenges and success that each day will bring.
The amazing people I get to work with each day are a big part of that, from our fantastic team and trade partners, to our amazing suppliers located literally all over the world.
Most of all I love working with our members to support them in every aspect of their business growth having learned the hard way from our own experience that ongoing support is key to success in the travel industry.
Their success and helping them overcome the challenges they face each day is really satisfying for me and one of the things that I love about my job.
I’m a strong believer that you need to “see it to sell it” and this means travelling as often as possible and I don’t think I’ll ever tire of that.
I love cruises, and have also travelled extensively in North America, Europe and the Caribbean. In recent years Africa has captured my heart since I did my first safari and I can’t wait to return to Botswana and Zimbabwe with their incredible wildlife, beautiful people, and wide open spaces!
